  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Birmingham beat Norwich City 1-0 on Saturday but it wasn't enough to stave off relegation from the Championship as Plymouth Argyle finished a point ahead of them. After the match, the Blues minority owner, who only bought a stake of the club last year, took to social media to try and rally fans.

• WHAT TOM BRADY SAID

  The NFL icon posted on social media after the relegation news: "Thank you for your support in a tough first year Bluenoses. We have a long way to go but it’s because of all of you that we’ll achieve great things in the future".

  Birmingham's decision to sack John Eustace when they were sixth in the Championship in October and replace him with Wayne Rooney spectacularly backfired. The former Derby County manager lasted a matter of months and Gary Rowett, who came in as interim boss after Tony Mowbray was forced to take a medical leave of absence, was unable to keep them up. Now they are in the English third tier for the first time in 29 years.

  In March, Birmingham said Mowbray would return for their 2024-25 pre-season campaign, which will now be in League One. That new season gets underway in early August.
