Borussia Dortmund and U.S. international Gio Reyna defeated FC St. Pauli 2-0 in the German Bundesliga on Saturday, with a pair of second half goals leading BVB to victory.

Reyna was handed his second-straight start for the for the first time this season, but struggled to leave a lasting impact and was removed from the match in the 74th minute as a result.

His showing helped BVB to three points, but he himself struggled to influence the match, with just 42 touches on the ball and 20 completed passes. On-loan Chelsea attacker Carney Chukwuemeka replaced him.

Reyna has struggled for regular minutes over the past two seasons, while minor injuries have also impacted his play. During the second half of the 2023-24 season, he was sent on loan to Premier League side Nottingham Forest, but he made just 10 appearances for the club.

In the 2024-25 season, across all competitions, he has made 19 appearances while scoring two goals and recording one assist.
